Zoo Day!

We took Galen to the Phoenix Zoo on Saturday. It was great. The weather was really nice (75 degrees or so) and it was relaxing to cruise through the zoo grounds and check out the animals. The zoo is well designed with exhibits designed for the animal's needs and comfort. One of the coolest exhibits is called monkey village and you go into their exhibit! I have it on the video. Also on the video is a tortoise that is easily 400 pounds plus! Of course we saw elephants too. Galen had a great time and was the best little boy. Later in the afternoon, a mom was looking for her son and Galen began pitching in calling his name and told us that he had to help find him. I am so lucky to have such a sweet and caring kidlet. At the end of the day, as you see in the photo, we tired him out and he crashed hard, without fuss.

Bug Salad!

Okay, so this is one of those, "MUST DOCUMENT BEFORE SENILITY DESTROYS MEMORY" moments. Last Saturday I made dinner for me, Galen and Fred. I made lavender corn soup with lavender fococcia bread (lavender obsession in full swing) and a salad. The salad had tomatoes, and various seeds and nuts, including seseame seeds. Well, when it was time for salad, I served some up for me and Fred; Galen isn't really into the salad thing yet. Then Galen looks over at my salad and says, "Mama, bugs in there!" while pointing to my salad. I began to correct him when Fred says, "Yes Galen, bug salad!" and then Fred proceeded to eat his salad, relishing in the "crunchiness" of imaginary bugs. I pitched in and soon enough Galen was in a fit of giggles and shouting "Eat Bugs! Eat Bugs! Yucky Mommy! Funny Fred!". So that's my funny Galen story for the day. The video is of Galen eating corn a few days later--very cute.

Galen: Little Boy Growing Up

So I decided to follow in Karen's (my clever sister-in-law) footsteps and create a blog that is accessible to everyone in the family. Also, I realized that I am forgeting funny anecdotes of Galen and this would be a great way to document them while I share them with family and friends. I hope you enjoy watching Galen grow up as much as I do.

Love,

Amy & Galen

P.S. Galen and I also have MySpace pages. The links are,
